At TUC RAIL, we are committed to\u00a0integrating renewable energy<\/strong>\u00a0in the traction network, especially\u00a0solar panels<\/strong>\u00a0and\u00a0wind turbines<\/strong>. The integration of this renewable energy in the traction network remains a\u00a0challenge<\/strong>\u00a0today because of 2 elements:\u00a0<\/p>\n

  • these renewable energy sources only provide energy from the\u00a0sun<\/strong>\u00a0and\u00a0wind<\/strong>;<\/li>\n
  • the\u00a0voltages<\/strong>\u00a0within the traction network are\u00a0unconventional<\/strong>\u00a0(3 000\u00a0V DC and 25 000\u00a0V AC).<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

    Decarbonising road transport<\/h2>\n

    The traction network is designed to provide all trains with\u00a0high electrical power<\/strong>\u00a0during peak hours. However, during off-peak hours and at night it is not fully utilised and can be\u00a0used for other purposes<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

    At TUC RAIL, we want to take advantage of this opportunity to\u00a0us EV chargers\u00a0<\/strong>for vehicles and buses in car parks along the railway network.<\/p>\n

    First project deployed<\/h3>\n

    In 2023, we will launch a first\u00a0pilot project<\/strong>\u00a0with the objective of\u00a0charging electrical vehicles<\/strong>\u00a0with current directly from the 3000\u00a0V DC catenaries.<\/p>\n
